Background
This guide describes the easiest way to move Datasets and Workflows between servers.
You may need to do this if you start work on app.omiq.ai but ultimately your company adopts an
Enterprise OMIQ server (e.g., company.omiq.ai).
The strategy for moving your work across is to use a functionality called External Transfers.
What is Kept in the External Transfer?
Your Datasets and Workflows will be transferred, including any computed results from algorithms etc.
The state will match exactly between servers.
Connections, Collaborators, and Groups are NOT transferred. You will need to remake these on the
destination server.
Our recommended strategy is that users transfer only the Datasets and Workflows that they own, then remake Groups and add Collaborators to those transferred resources as applicable.
Step 1: Form External Connection
(1.1) Go to your Enterprise profile page and open the External Connections panel which is revealed from
within the Connections panel by clicking the external icon:
(1.2) Fill in your email address and write “app” in the secondary field.
(1.3) Go to your non-Enterprise profile page and accept the External Connection request.
Step 2: Transfer Assets
There are three cases you may need or want to do. In all cases, make sure to find the Collaborators box
but convert it to External mode using the button highlighted below:
After which you should see this in its place:
Case 1: Dataset Only
This approach sends only the Dataset.
(2.1.1) Go to the non-Enterprise server.
(2.1.2) Go to the Dataset of interest, Collaborators tab (External Transfer pane).
(2.1.3) Select yourself as the external recipient.
(2.1.4) Click on Send Files.
(2.1.5) Submit the Dataset ID popup with the number 0.
(2.1.6) Choose the files you wish to transfer and submit. The transfer will indicate progress to completion.
Case 2: Dataset with one Workflow
This approach sends the Workflow and Dataset at the same time.
(2.2.1) Go to the non-Enterprise server.
(2.2.2) Go to the Workflow of interest, Collaborators tab (External Transfer pane).
(2.2.3) Select yourself as the external recipient.
(2.2.4) Click on Send WF & Files.
(2.2.5) Select the Files to include in the transfer and then click submit to initiate transfer. The transfer will
indicate progress to completion.
Case 3: Dataset with many Workflows
This approach sends the Dataset once and then Workflows piecewise after.
(2.3.1) Follow the directions in Case 1 to transfer the Dataset alone. When the Dataset has transferred completely, note the destination Dataset ID noted as Dest Dataset in the Transfer History (click the
transfer history entry to open the details). Copy the Dest Dataset ID.
(2.3.2) Go to the first Workflow of interest, Collaborators tab (External Transfer pane).
(2.3.3) Click on Send WF.
(2.3.4) Enter the Dest Dataset ID that you previously copied. Submit to initiate the transfer. The transfer
will indicate progress to completion.
(2.3.5) Repeat with each Workflow to transfer.
